to be one...

What does it mean to be an individual...conformist...? Isn't individualism conforming to the idea of not conforming. What ever it is, being your own person is your decision. We can take whatever society and the media gives us, but its our decision whether or not to use it. High school is one of those places where you really have to learn how to make your own decisions, to become your own person, but it is also one of the hardest places to accomplish that task. There are so many distractions that can keep from yourself... school, peers,etc.. I believe high school is just a page we turn to get from one point of life to another, it shouldn't page that can  turn the story of our life into a tragedy. However, like "The Box Man" tradgedy can be defined differently than just the stereotypical situtations. I think this part of your life should bring you joy as well as life lessons that give you wisdom to keep your pages well bound no matter how many pages you turn.

sweetest side of life

More often than not, we look into our fridge and find that bruised, sticky undesireable peach sitting at the bottom of the produce shelf. We look at it with disgust and revolted by its oozing juices and squishy texture, we are tempted to throw it out. However, we fail to realize the positives that lie in the "rotten" fruit. Peeling back its outer layer, beholds the refreshing, sweet nectar, that drips between our fingers as we sink our teeth into a little taste of summer time. We can overlook the tasty slices filling both our cobbler and our faces, at the neighborhood picnic. So next time the week old peaches look up at you from the bottom of the produce shelf, remember, the over ripened fruit is the sweetest of them all.
Champions aren't made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them -- a desire, a dream, a vision.

Muhammad Ali, American Boxer

I came across this in a forward one day. I often think I should be able to conquer everything with one blow, that i one moment i will be the champ of life without any struggles what so ever. But, I have come to realize that it takes more that just thinking, it takes actions and mistakes to get to where you want to be. You must be able to have the dream to accomplish, the vision of reaching your goal, and the desire to work towards. Life takes training and persistance to get what you want out of it, because not even Muhammad Ali, could win every fight with one punch. It is the constant drive, float and sting that make one a champion of their future.

Bamboo Moms

While watching National Geographic's tour of the Chinese countryside I see a pandas, dining on pounds of bamboo. I get to thinking how much bamboo reminds me of my mom. In contrast, my mom is not green nor fiberous, but in comparison they are almost one in the same. No matter which way the wind blows, they both flow with poise, they seem elegant and graceful no matter how hard the wind or patience pushes them. They are strong, withstanding natural forces of hurricanes and my all too hectic sports schedules. Like weeds, they spread from one area to next, whether it be a landscape to landscape or from work to home and back.

The Summer Book

Tempted by the warm sunrays that I desperately needed, I could not be torn away from the moral and social rebeliousness of the  roaring twenties that filled the pages of one of the greatest books I have ever gazed my eyes upon. The Great Gatsby spectacularly emulates the jazz-filled, booze-buzzed culture of the 1920's as well as the betrayal and harsh hiarchy. Eventhough the American dream inspires individualist for the pursiut of happiness, and equality, the prevelance of division between old and new wealth becomes the tradgedy that haunts the aristocrats of the East Egg and the self-made workers of the West Egg. Though there characters seemed so different from eachother, Jimmy Gatz, of St. Louis, Missouri, embodied both social hiarchies, as Mr. Gatsby. Daisy born into the aristocratic society of the East Egg, is surrounded by the hollow, well-to-do. Their carelessness and irreverance towards the people of the West Egg, seems like the "dream" has become a lost cause, however, her kind heart, his life story, and the green light, become the beacon of hope for the future. This book embodies the life, and the loss early industrialized American dream in which all, rich, poor and in between can enjoy.

Welcome to My Blog!

Hello Friends,
My name is Christine Fraley! I am very excited that you have checked out my blog, since this is the first blog I have ever written in my life. I am not one that is completely computer savvy, but more of a fun loving, athletics kind of person. I would much rather be spending my time on the court, a field, or on the water, than post my status all day.
